The call for entries for the inaugural Garden Gallery exhibition, "ACCESS," is open to all artists in the St. Louis area who want to address ideas of accessibility in two- or three-dimensional works of art.

The Garden Gallery will be housed at Bloom Café, Paraquad's social enterprise restaurant at 5200 Oakland Ave. in St. Louis, between St. Louis Community College's Forest Park campus and the St. Louis Science Center. It is part of “Art of Community Engagement,” a Master of Fine Arts course at Washington University in St. Louis.

Information About Eligible Works

  • 2D work (maximum size is 5' x 6' and 30 lbs.).
    • Accepted 2D work must be delivered to the Garden Gallery ready to hang.
  • 3D work (maximum size is 4' x 4' and 50 lbs.).
  • There is limited space for an outdoor sculpture.
  • Short videos will be reviewed (maximum length of 5 minutes).
  • Each artist may enter a total of three works with a maximum of five digital images. Images must be 300 dpi.
  • There is no entry fee.
  • Email images to, Ron Fondaw with "Garden Gallery" in the subject line.
    • Must include an image identification sheet with the:
      • Title of each work;
      • Name of artist;
      • Materials;
      • Price or not for sale.

Tips for a Better Image

  • Keep the surroundings simple.
  • Fill the frame and use a single source of light, or take your subject outside but not in direct sunlight.
  • No shadows.


The deadline for entries is 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018. Artists will receive a notice of acceptance via email on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018.

Sale of Artwork

The sale of artwork is the responsibility of the artist. The maximum retail price is $1,000.

Artwork will be insured while the exhibition is ongoing. Bloom Café and/or Paraquad will not be responsible for damage of artwork prior to the opening or after the exhibition closes.

Delivery of Artwork

Artwork should be delivered on Nov. 29 or 30, 2018, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. to the Health and Wellness Center at Paraquad, 5200 Berthold Ave., St. Louis.

Pick Up of Artwork

Artwork must be picked up on January 25 or 26, 2019, between 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Bloom Café. Bloom Café and/or Paraquad is not responsible for artwork that is not picked up by Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 5 p.m.
